TOPPERS ABOUT

HOW TOPPERS WORKS

Bengaluru's weekly top tens — written by the city, never by us.

WHAT THIS IS

Every week, Bengaluru votes its favourite food, cafés and pubs into ranked tables — board by board, one pick per person. No stars, no reviews, no editors deciding for you. The table you see is exactly what the city tapped.

THE RULES

  • One pick per board per week. Switch your pick anytime till Sun 11:59 PM.
  • Sunday midnight, the week's table locks — Monday opens a fresh race on every board.
  • Don't see a place? Add it as a contender — 10 backings from the public puts it on the ballot, live.
  • No sign-up needed to vote. Signing in is optional and only syncs your picks across devices.

THE PLEDGE

A rank on Toppers can never be bought. Not by a restaurant, not by an advertiser, not for any price. If we ever run sponsorships, they will sit beside the table, clearly labelled — never inside it. The day a list can be paid for is the day it stops being worth reading.

KEEPING VOTES HONEST

Votes are counted one per person per board, enforced at the database level. Every week, before the table locks in, we review voting patterns for fraud — bursts of throwaway devices, single-source pile-ons — and discount what fails the smell test. Businesses caught stuffing votes get publicly delisted.

THE DATA

The founding ballots are seeded from OpenStreetMap — real places, zero pre-cooked rankings. Everything after that is written by the city: votes, contenders, and the suggestion box that decides what we build next.

The fastest way: drop it in the suggestion box — the whole city can back it.
